There may be times when you need to contact the Customer or manager before or during a scheduled task.
Before a scheduled task's start time, you will have the option to use the chat feature. Once on-site for a supervised task, you can also locate your assigned manager or have them paged.
When Should I Contact the Customer or Manager?
You should reach out when you have a question or issue that could affect your task, including:
- You need clarification about the task instructions.
- You cannot find the manager or supervisor listed for your task on site.
- Keep in mind that for unsupervised tasks, there is no manager on site.
- You cannot locate products, materials, or the area where you are supposed to work.
- You are running late.
- You are having trouble completing the task as instructed.
- You need to leave the task early or are unable to finish the task.
- You must always properly follow the check-out instructions to ensure they know when you stopped working.
- You have a question about your task's location, time, or other task details.
- You are experiencing an issue checking in or out.
If a manager or supervisor is available on-site, speak with them directly whenever possible.
How Do I Message the Customer in the Hyer App?
Messaging with a Customer is available within the context of a scheduled task.
- Open the Hyer app and select Tasks.
- Open the scheduled task you are working on or have a question about.
- Select the Contact Customer chat icon 💬 in the upper-right corner.
- Enter your message and select Send.
What If I'm On Site and I Can't Find the Manager?
First, review the task instructions. Some tasks include specific instructions on how to contact or locate the manager or supervisor. Instructions may include meeting in a specific location, having someone paged, or using a phone and dialing a specific number.
If you cannot find them:
- Use the Contact Customer chat in the task.
- Go to the Customer Service desk or another appropriate contact point and ask for the manager or supervisor to be paged.
Some tasks are unsupervised, which means a manager is not available on-site. Always review the task instructions before beginning your task for specific instructions on how to properly get started.
Keep Communication Professional
All communication with Customers should remain professional.
Be clear about the issue you're experiencing and provide enough information for the Customer to understand what you need.
Don't Use Customer Chat to Request Payment
Do not message the Customer to ask when you will be paid or to request payment.
If you have completed the task, selected I'm Done, requested payment, and have a payment question, please review Getting Paid: Understanding the Timing and the 24-Hour and 72-Hour Payment Rule or contact Tasker Support when appropriate.
📌 Remember: Always review the task instructions carefully. They may contain Customer-specific directions about who to contact, where to report, or what to do when you arrive.
