Daylight Saving Time always begins the second Sunday in March and ends the first Sunday in November.
Fall Back
Fall Back for participating states is at 2 AM; the clock will roll back to 1 AM on the first Sunday in March.
Spring Forward
States that observe Daylight Saving Time will turn their clocks forward at 2 AM on the first Sunday in November. That means that if you are looking at your watch when it says 2 AM, it is really 3 AM.
How does this affect you?
- Task Start Times: Most cell phones will automatically adjust at 2 AM, but if you use a manual clock, be sure to set it before going to bed to make sure you make it to your task on time.
- Hourly Tasks: If you are working an hourly task between 12 AM and 3 AM, you may need to check with the Customer how this may affect your pay. For example, (Spring Forward), if you are scheduled for an 8-hour shift, you may only be working 7 hours and get paid accordingly. Likewise, for Fall Back, if you are scheduled for an 8-hour shift, you may actually be working 9 hours and get paid accordingly.
Best practice is to always communicate with the Customer if there is any confusion about task start times or the length of an hourly task.
