When you complete a background check for Hyer, Checkr processes the background check and provides updates on its status.
You can view the current status of your background check by logging into the Checkr Candidate Portal.
Below are some of the statuses you may see in your Checkr Portal and what they mean.
Canceled
"Canceled" means the background check report was canceled and couldn't be completed. This may happen due to:
- The requested information or documents weren't submitted in time to Checkr, resulting in an expired request
- A mismatch in personal information (PII) prevented the report from continuing
- The company or organization chose to cancel the report
Clear
A "Clear" result means Checkr completed the background check and did not identify information that requires additional review. Check your email from Checkr for the final results of your background check.
Complete
"Complete" means the report or searches have finished processing. Check your email from Checkr for the final results of your background check.
Consider
A status of "Consider" means the background check report has at least one record that the company or organization may want to review.
Consider does not automatically mean that you are ineligible to use Hyer.
Hyer will review the report and determine your eligibility. Watch your email for the final results of your background check.
Dispute
"Dispute" means your report is under reinvestigation because you disputed information on it.
What to expect
In compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Checkr typically has 30 days to complete a reinvestigation. However, if documentation is provided to supplement the dispute, the process may take up to 45 days. Checkr can't estimate a completion date, but strives to complete reinvestigations as quickly as possible. After the reinvestigation is complete, Checkr emails you the results.
If the reinvestigation results in changes to your background check report, your report will be updated and shared with both you and the company or organization that ordered the report.
If the disputed information is accurate and the report requires no changes, Checkr will notify you and the company or organization you applied to that the original report is accurate and complete.
Pending
"Pending" (or "In Progress") means the background check is still being processed.
Most background checks are completed within 3-7 business days, but some take more time depending on:
- Where records are searched
- Whether information must be retrieved manually
- Response times from courts or other institutions
Once Checkr requests the information, they have no control over how quickly they receive the information back.
Suspended
A "Suspended" status generally means Checkr cannot continue processing your background check until additional information or documentation is provided by you to Checkr.
Checkr may need information such as:
- A copy of an identification document
- Your Social Security number or other identifying information
- Additional information needed to verify your identity or complete a search
What should I do?
Check your email, including your spam or junk folder, for a message from Checkr explaining what is needed.
You should provide the requested information directly to Checkr as soon as possible so they can continue processing your background check.
Hyer cannot submit this information to Checkr on your behalf.
