📌 This article applies to background checks for 1099 Independent Contractor Tasks.
Taskers working 1099 Tasks are independent contractors and are not employees of Hyer or the Customer posting the task.
To help maintain a safe and reliable platform for Taskers and Customers, applicants must complete a criminal background check before becoming eligible to work 1099 Tasks through Hyer.
Background checks and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) checks are completed through Checkr, Hyer's third-party background check provider.
Criminal Background Check
A determination on whether an applicant is eligible to become a Tasker on the Hyer platform is made on a case-by-case basis. However, an applicant may be ineligible to accept tasks if their background check reveals convictions, including pending charges where applicable, involving:
- Homicide
- Violence
- Sexual Offense
- Security (Terrorism Or Treason)
- Drug-related Offense
- Theft Or Property Damage
- Concealed Weapons/No Permit
Hyer reserves the right to determine eligibility based on background check results and other safety-related considerations.
Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Check – Delivery Tasks Only
An MVR check is only required if you want to apply for Delivery Tasks.
To qualify for Delivery Tasks, you must:
- Have a valid driver's license
- Have access to a vehicle
- Have proof of insurance
- Complete and pass the required MVR check
Checkr's MVR check reviews driving history reported by your state's Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or similar government agency.
Eligibility for Delivery Tasks is determined on a case-by-case basis.
MVR results that may make you ineligible for Delivery Tasks include:
- Major driving violations, such as DUI, hit and run, or street racing
- Multiple accidents
- Multiple instances of distracted driving
What If I Don't Pass the MVR Check?
Not passing an MVR check does not necessarily prevent you from working other 1099 Tasks through Hyer.
If you meet the requirements of the criminal background check but do not meet the requirements of the MVR check, you may still be eligible to apply for non-delivery Tasks.
You will not be eligible for Delivery Tasks that require an approved MVR.
Hyer reserves the right to disqualify a candidate should their background check reveal any of the above items or for any other safety-related reason at Hyer's sole discretion.
