If you arrive at your task and cannot find a manager or your listed contact, do not leave right away. There may be additional instructions in the task explaining where to go, who to contact, or whether a manager is even required.
1. Review ALL Task Instructions
Carefully review the entire task, including:
- Detailed task instructions
- Check-in instructions
- Contact names or phone numbers
- Specific entrances, doors, departments, or areas you should report to
- Links included within the task instructions
- Surveys or additional task materials
- Any communications you received regarding the task
Some tasks may instruct you to call a specific number when you arrive or report to a particular area of the location.
2. Follow the Check-In Instructions
If the task requires you to check in with someone, follow the instructions provided.
This may include:
- Going to Customer Service
- Asking for a specific manager or department
- Asking Customer Service to page someone
- Calling a phone number provided in the task
- Going to a specific entrance or area
- Signing in using a store log, tablet, or other system
Do not leave simply because the first person you speak with does not know about the task.
For more information, see How to Properly Check In and Out of a Task.
3. Check Whether the Task Is Unsupervised
Some tasks are unsupervised, meaning a manager will not be on-site to oversee your work.
For these tasks, the information you need to complete the work should be provided within the task instructions and materials. Including if you need to check in with a store manager, or if you can just go in and complete the task.
Keep in mind that the person you check in with will not know the details of your Hyer task or the work you are there to complete. Always rely on the instructions provided within your task.
4. Try to Contact the Customer
If you have followed the task instructions and still need assistance, use the chat feature in the Hyer app to attempt to contact the Customer.
When reaching out, clearly explain that you are on-site, what steps you have already taken, and what assistance you need.
For more information, see How Do I Contact (Chat/Text) the Customer/Manager?
Don't Leave Without Reviewing the Task
Being unable to immediately locate a manager does not necessarily mean that the task cannot be completed.
Before deciding that you cannot complete the task, make sure you have:
- Reviewed all task instructions and materials
- Followed all check-in procedures
- Gone to the correct location or department
- Attempted to locate or contact the appropriate person
- Determined whether the task is unsupervised
- Attempted to contact the Customer through the Hyer app when needed
📌 Important
You are responsible for reviewing and following the instructions provided for your task.
Failure to follow the task instructions, required check-in or check-out procedures, or required surveys may affect the Customer's ability to verify your work and could result in reduced or denied payment
