Geotagged Photos, Location Settings, and Photo Uploads

Hyer uses location information to help verify that you are at the correct task location. For tasks that require photos to be submitted via a survey, those photos must be taken on-site to help confirm the work completed.

Keeping your phone's Location Services enabled and allowing Hyer to access your location can help prevent issues with checking in or out, uploading photos, and verifying completed work.

Why Location Settings and Geotagged Photos Matter

Some tasks require photos as proof that the work was completed. When location information is enabled, your phone should attach location data (a geotag) to the photos you take.

This can help verify:

• Where the photo was taken
• That you were at the correct task location
• That required work was completed on-site

If location information is missing or the Customer cannot verify that the work was completed as required, the task may require additional review or may be disputed.

Tasks where the required photos do not show the task location allow the Customer additional time (up to 72 hours) to confirm payment instead of the normal 24-hour confirmation period.

Before Starting Your Task

Before arriving at or beginning a task:

• Make sure Location Services are turned on for your phone.
• Allow the Hyer app to access your location.
• Make sure Precise Location is enabled when your phone provides this option.
• Make sure your Camera or Photos settings allow location information to be saved with photos.
• Do not turn off location permissions while completing the task

🤖 Android

Enable Geotagging and Location for Photos for Android

Phone settings can vary depending on your Android device and operating system.

In general:

1. Open your phone's Settings.
2. Go to Location or Privacy > Location.
3. Make sure Location Services are turned ON.
4. Go to Apps > Hyer > Permissions > Location.
5. Allow Hyer to access your location.
6. If available, turn Precise Location ON.
7. Check your Camera settings to make sure location information or location tags are enabled for photos

📌 Important for Android only: When uploading photos in a survey, use the Photo app, not Gallery — uploading via Gallery will cause an error. Click here to learn how to change your default photo app.

Changing your default setting from the Gallery app to the Photos app

1. Swipe down from the top of the phone to select the 'Settings' icon
2. Scroll down and select 'Apps'
3. Next to the search bar, click the three vertical dots and hit 'Default apps'
4. Tap the default that you want to change. If it shows that the Gallery app is your default, you will want to go to the Photo app and choose that as your default.

📱 IOS (iPhone)

Enable Geotagging and Location for Photos for IOS 

1. Open your phone's Settings.
2. Go to Privacy & Security > Location Services.
3. Make sure Location Services are turned ON.
4. Find Hyer in the list of apps.
5. Allow Hyer to access your location as required by the app.
6. Turn Precise Location ON.
7. Make sure your Camera and Photos settings allow the necessary access.
8. If a location option is unavailable or grayed out, first make sure Location Services are enabled for the device under Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services.

Troubleshooting Tips

Important

Photos and other task requirements should accurately reflect the work you completed at the task location.

Missing location information, photos that cannot be verified, or photos that do not meet the task requirements may result in additional Customer review or a payment dispute.

Each Customer has the right to review and dispute work that was not completed or does not meet the requirements listed in the task.
