How Do I Turn On Geotagging for My Photos?
Some tasks require photos that include the location where they were taken. This is called geotagging.
Geotagging helps the Customer confirm that the photos were taken at the task location.
If geotagging is turned off:
- You may be asked to explain why the photo does not include location information.
- If this option is not enabled or is incorrect, you will need to submit an explanation (at least 25 characters) explaining why it is not registering; this information will be reviewed by the Customer.
- The Customer may not be able to confirm where the work was completed.
- Your payment may be delayed, reduced, or disputed.
📌 Keep in mind that if you do not turn this feature on, this may affect the Customer's ability to confirm the work was complete, and they may dispute that task, ultimately resulting in non-payment. Each Customer has the right to dispute any task that is incomplete or that does not meet all the task requirements.
Turn On Photo Location for an iPhone (iOS)
- Open your phone’s Settings.
- Tap Privacy & Security.
- Tap Location Services.
- Make sure Location Services is turned on.
- Scroll down and select Camera.
- Select While Using the App.
- Turn on Precise Location.
Turn On Photo Location for an Android Phone
The steps may look different depending on your phone.
First, allow the Camera app to use your location:
- Open your phone’s Settings.
- Tap Apps.
- Select Camera.
- Tap Permissions.
- Tap Location.
- Select Allow only while using the app.
- Turn on Precise Location, if shown.
Next, check the Camera app:
- Open the Camera app.
- Open the Camera settings.
- Find Location tags, Save location, or a similar setting.
- Turn the setting on.
📌Keep in mind that with an Android device only, if you need to upload pictures for a survey, you must use the Photo app. If you attempt to upload a picture from the Gallery app, it will error out. Click 👉 here to learn how to change your default photo app.
Important
Geotagging and the Hyer app’s GPS permission are separate settings. Make sure both are turned on before beginning a task that requires photos.
Only submit clear photos taken at the task location. Do not submit old photos or photos taken somewhere else.
