Not getting paid the amount you expected can be disappointing, so here are 5 practical tips to help you avoid payment disputes.
1 ) Checking Out Properly
- Each task should include instructions for checking out. For all supervised tasks, you should be sure to communicate with the on-site manager overseeing your task. This helps ensure you can cover the work you completed so it is properly recorded for the correct payment.
- Be sure to complete the task as instructed and follow directions to ensure the task is completed properly.
- Never leave a locked-down site (overnight tasks) without checking out and being let out securely.
- Leaving without properly checking out leaves it up to the Customer to interpret what work was completed and estimate when you left, which can affect your payment. A Customer will not pay for work they are unable to confirm was completed.
2) Checking In / Confirming Expectations
Checking in with the Customer correctly (review the instructions for the check-in process for that task) will help ensure you understand exactly what their expectations are for completing that task and receiving full payment.
- Failing to check in correctly or hit the Prompts ("I've Started Working") when you arrive can cause issues with the Customer being able to confirm when you started work.
3) Arriving on Time
- Similar to our last point, arriving late can affect your pay. Arriving at your task on time helps ensure proper payment.
4) Survey Completion
- Tasks that require a survey include specific instructions detailing the requirements for receiving payment for that task. If the survey is not fully completed with accurate information, the Customer will dispute the task.
- Ensure you have a good signal and can connect to wifi. Read the instructions for each task. Take all the pictures and save them on your phone until payment is issued.
- Note that if you do not complete the survey while on site or do not have the GPS turned on and working with your photos, the Customer will have up to 72 hours to confirm payment.
5) Requesting Payment Correctly
- When you request payment, if you did not work the full amount or all the hours expected, it is important to request only what you actually worked. You can do this by tapping the 'Task was Modified' option and editing it to the correct amount.
- Note that if you request more than what the task was posted for, the Customer will have up to 72 hours to confirm payment.
