If a W2 Tasker is injured while working, they have workers' compensation coverage through Ascen (the Tasker's employer of record). This should be handled slightly differently than a 1099 Tasker who is injured. If the task is a 1099 task, please see this article.
What to do in case of Injury or Medical Episode
- Contact emergency services if needed.
- Follow your standard HR guidelines or store protocols for reporting injuries to maintain a record of the incident.
- Have the W2 Tasker reach out to Ascen immediately to report the injury.
- Tasker can email Ascen at support@ascen.com or call Ascen at 1-(888) 485-2687. Ascen will provide the Tasker with an "Authorization for Treatment" to take to a clinic or a "Declination of Medical Treatment Form."
- Ascen will then work with the Tasker for anything else that is needed. Ensure that the Tasker reaches out to Ascent to report the injury before leaving the task site (unless they leave with emergency medical services).
