It is essential to ensure that anyone on site and attempting to work is a "Scheduled" W-2 authorized Tasker. 1099 Taskers can still see W2 tasks, but are not able to be scheduled until they successfully go through Ascen's (employer of record for W2 Taskers) onboarding and are employed by Ascen.
📢 Taskers should never be allowed to work on a task that they are not scheduled for.
📢 Send any Tasker home if they show up and you cannot assign them a task to work.
Can a 1099 Tasker work a W2 Task?
✅ Yes, but ONLY if they have been successfully onboarded and employed by Ascen to work on the Hyer platform as a W2 Tasker.
🚫 If a Tasker has just signed up through Hyer as only a 1099 Independent Contractor, they are NOT eligible to work a W2 task.
Can a Tasker who is not Scheduled for a task work?
🚫No! If a Tasker is not scheduled (assigned) to a task, there is no way for that Tasker to be paid for the work completed.
Allowing a Tasker to work when they are Not selected also opens them and your company up to certain risks should there be an accident while working. When someone works on a task that they are not Scheduled for, they are working outside of the Hyer app and are not covered by Workers' Compensation Insurance.
Can a Tasker who is showing a status of 'Selected' work?
'Selected' is a task status that is shown when a Tasker has applied to a W2 task and been selected by the customer; the tasker has to complete onboarding by 24 hrs. before the task start time, otherwise they will be removed (canceled) from the task.
I can't find a Tasker that I want to send a task to. Why?
There can be multiple reasons why this may happen, but it is very important not to let the person work unless you can officially schedule them for a task on the desired date, time, and location.
Reasons you may not see a Tasker may include:
- The Tasker is not employed by Ascen and is not eligible to work a W2 task.
- The Tasker's account is Restricted, and they are unable to work on any task until the restriction is removed.
- The Tasker's account is Disabled, and they are unable to work on any task until the restriction is removed.
- The Tasker has not completed their Ascen onboarding.
Always reach out to Hyer Support (support@gohyer.com) if you have any questions.
Can a Tasker bring a buddy/friend/another non-scheduled Tasker to work with them?
🚫 No, you should never allow a Tasker to bring another individual with them to help on their task. It is also prohibited to allow someone else to work in place of a scheduled Tasker.
Each person who is working on a task must be an official Tasker who has completed a background check and been assigned/scheduled for their own task. The buddy/friend will Not be compensated for their work, and you open up your company and that individual to risks should there be an accident while on site. There are also tax implications for the reported income going to the wrong person.
What should I do if a Tasker brings someone?
The scheduled Tasker can still work the task, but their buddy should be sent home. Please notify Hyer Support of what occurred (including the Tasker's name and the friend's name, if available), and Hyer will reach out to provide the Tasker with a warning.
