What is W-2 work and how does it work on Hyer?
W-2 work means you are hired as an employee of Ascen Workforce, LLC (Ascen), rather than working as an independent contractor (1099). Ascen is the Employer of Record that partners with Hyer.
- Taxes & Forms: At the end of the year, you’ll receive a W-2 form from Ascen showing your earnings and tax withholdings. If you also complete 1099 tasks through Hyer, you’ll still receive a 1099 form from Hyer for that income.
- Onboarding: To take on W-2 tasks in your area, you’ll need to complete Ascen’s employee onboarding process. This includes employment documents such as Form I-9 for identity verification, which must be confirmed by an authorized individual.
- Protections & Benefits: Once you’re verified and onboarded, you may also be eligible for added protections—like workers’ compensation coverage.
